Solar Water Heaters
Using the sun’s energy to heat water can significantly reduce your hot water bills by more than 65% per year as well as help to conserve our natural resources and the environment.
Water heating accounts for about 30% of an average household’s total greenhouse gas emissions and about the same proportion of total household energy use. Installing a solar hot water heater can greatly reduce energy bills. Using solar energy to heat water produces no harmful greenhouse gas emissions and can provide between 50% to 90% of total hot water requirements depending on the climate and model of heater. Although the upfront cost of a solar hot water heater (including installation) is higher than electric or gas water heaters, energy bill savings will compensate for this over time. Government rebates are also available in many parts of Australia to assist with the initial purchase cost of a solar hot water heater.
