Jimboomba (4280)
Located 41 km to Brisbane’s south on the Mt Lindesay Highway and bisected by the Logan River, Jimboomba (4280) was originally farmland with cattle runs, sheep stations, and dairying. Jimboomba was serviced by rail until 2004. However it does have a growing industrial base in the automotive industry, irrigation supply, produce, and light manufacturing.
Jimboomba has also been designated as a centre for major residential growth and to cater for increasing population there are numerous services including a fire brigade, ambulance, police, a community shopping centre, medical facilities, and five schools. The new Flagstone Housing Estate will accommodate some 120,000 people and incorporate a shopping centre and access to rail.
In 2011, 11,400 people lived in Jimboomba, their average age is 33 years. Most residents were Anglo-Australian and spoke only English at home.
