Bulimba (4171)

Bulimba (4171) is situated 4 km on the Eastside of the Brisbane CBD alongside the Brisbane River. Originally a farming area, residential subdivision began during the 1880s land boom. Its school was constructed in 1938. It has two ferry terminals with regular services along the Brisbane River and is known for its relaxed, upmarket restaurants and cafes along a village style high street adjoining a large recreational park.

Bulimba has many heritage-listed buildings as well as has an older style cinema complex which runs art house movies at discounted ticket fees and this attracts many day trippers to the area on weekends. Home to affluent professionals, houses are large traditional Queenslanders, although, with mounting population pressures, there is increasing moderate density development.

About 5,900 people live in Bulimba, their average age being 36 years. Most were born in Australia, England or New Zealand, with a notable minority being born in South Africa or the United States. English is spoken primarily at home.
