No 4 – New High Rise Apartment Defects – Water Ingress
Many clients say to us “It’s a new luxury unit. Why would I need a building inspection?” Sadly, water ingress issues are quite common defects in new high-rise apartments. The combination of high air velocities around high-rise buildings with fenestrations (external windows and doors) not designed for the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the unit and poor installation has resulted in a significant number of incidences of water ingress through and around fenestrations particularly during storms. A Pre-Purchase Building Inspection or Handover Inspection is small price to pay for detection of these problems.
