Wynnum West (4178)
Situated 13 km east to the Eastside of Brisbane’s CBD, Wynnum West (4178) was originally settled as farming land in the 1880s but not formally recognised as a suburb in 1975. It continued to be underpopulated until post war years at which point development took off so that it is now a residential area with some industrial activity.
Wynnum West is well serviced with regular rail access to Brisbane , a major shopping centre incorporating key retailers, various parks and a number of schools, the earliest being established in 1922.
As of 2011, 11,700 people were resident in Wynnum West, having an average age of 38 years.
Most were born in Australia, New Zealand and England with a minority from South Africa and English was spoken as the only language at home.
