Wavell Heights (4012)
Located 9 km to the north of Brisbane, Wavell Heights (4012) was named after the Middle East’s Commander-In-Chief of Allied Forces during World War II in 1941. Wavelength Heights is the only suburb to have a Neighbourhood Society which manages a park with extensive facilities including a kindergarten and various children’s groups e.g. Scouts. In response to its post-war population growth, Wavell Heights has three schools, one of which suffered an arson attack in 2011.
In 2011 Wavell Heights had 9500 residents of average age 36 years with a significant number of families with children under 15 years. 86% were born in Australia, New Zealand or England and other than Italian, English was predominantly spoken at home.
