Parkinson (4115)
Located 19 km to Brisbane’s south and bordered by the Mt Lindesay Highway to the east, the Brisbane to Sydney rail corridor to the west, and uncleared bushland with some emerging industrial development to the south, Parkinson (4115) was named for Henry Parkinson, a railway engineer.
Bisected by the Logan Motorway, Parkinson is primarily residential with parkland. In 2011, 9500 people called the suburb home, their average age is 34 years. Parkinson is a multi-cultural suburb with a large percentage having been born overseas, including South Africa, India, and China such that a broad variety of languages including Spanish, Hindi, Cantonese, Punjabi, and Mandarin are spoken at home in addition to English.
