Forestdale (4118)
Located 22 km south of Brisbane, Forestdale (4118) was named for its extensive reserve bushland areas which make the suburb vulnerable to bushfire. The Greenwood Lakes wetland area combines conservation with recreation by providing walking trails and picnic facilities. Other than this bushland, Forestdale does have farmland with market gardens, although these have been earmarked for development in the near future. Forestdale is increasingly residential with large modern houses on acreage blocks.
In 2011, 2500 people lived in Forestdale, their average age being 39 years. Most were Anglo-Australian with a minority born in Taiwan, South Africa, and Vietnam such that Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and Spanish were spoken alongside English at home in some cases.
