Roof Pitch

The Roof Pitch is the angle of the rafters taken from the pitching point on the top plate of the wall to the highest point on the underside of the rafter. This is the angle or slope of the roof surface to the horizontal, expressed in degrees or ratio. The greater the pitch the faster rainwater flows off the roof and the more chance of gutter failure. On the other hand, the lower the pitch, the more chance of water ponding causing damage to roof coverings and the roof space as well as encouraging timber pests.
