Located 15 km west of Brisbane, along the Brisbane River, Westlake (4074) has both prestigious riverside properties and higher density executive residential estates developed around natural lakes in the 1990s. Residents are very active in this suburb in preserving remaining bushland and protecting native fauna and flora.
In 2011, 4400 people lived in Westlake, their average age being 41 years. Although most residents were Anglo-Australian, a minority were also from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and South Africa. English was mainly spoken at home alongside Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tamil, and Hindi in a minority of cases.
