Shorncliffe (4017)
Located about 20 km on the Northside of Brisbane’s CBD, Shorncliffe (4017) has always been popular as a day trip destination for Brisbanites because of its quaint seaside village feel.
A landmark feature of Shorncliffe, its pier was later closed in 2012 for safety reasons. Because of Shorncliffe’s proximity to Bramble Bay, it hosts a number of water-based festivals such as the Blue Water Festival and most importantly, the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race. Shorncliffe’s has a number of schools, a golf course founded in 1921 and is readily accessible to Brisbane via rail.
As of 2011, about 1900 people were resident in Shorncliffe’s, their average age is 41 years. 88% were born in Australia, England or New Zealand and almost all spoke English exclusively at home.
