Holland Park (4121)
is situated 6 km south-east of Brisbane and is primarily residential, with some commercial activity concentrated along Logan Road. It is notably an older, well established suburb characterised by its small, single storey, timber post war homes. The suburb became more accessible with the advent of trams which were subsequently shut down in 1969. Segments of the old tram lines remain. The suburb is well serviced with schools, parkland and a dedicated retail zone for shopping. Holland Park also hosts Queensland’s first crematorium, the Mount Thompson crematorium.
According to records (2011 Census), about 7,800 people live in Holland Park; their average age being 35. 23% were born overseas, most commonly in England and New Zealand (6%), although the most common languages to be spoken at home, apart from English are Greek or Somali (2.5%).
