Clontarf (4019)

29 km to the north of Brisbane, on the Redcliffe peninsula, Clontarf (4019) was connected to Brisbane by the Hornibrook Bridge which has since been partially demolished and replaced by the Ted Smout Bridge. Although Clontarf has a large industrial and commercial component, it is also being gentrified recently because of its seaside location, esplanade and large parklands which host several festivals and kite flying activities. Increasingly high density high rise unit developments are being constructed along the main roadway facing the Bay. Clontarf is also popular with retirees travelling north because of its caravan park facilities. It is also well served by several shopping centres with major retailers, bus routes linking to rail in Sandgate and three schools including a college. In 2011, about 8,000 people were resident, their average age being 42 years. 87% were born in Australia, New Zealand or England and English was spoken almost exclusively at home.
