Carina (4152)

Situated 7 km to the Eastside of the Brisbane CBD, Carina (4152) is primarily a residential suburb, home to a major sporting complex  and a major bus depot. Original established in the 1850s, Carina was named after the daughter of one of the first settlers in the area.

Carina was originally settled in the 1850s as a farming area and remained so until post World War II when public housing construction attracted a significant population increase in the area in the 1950s and 1960s. Trolley buses operated in the area between 1954 and 1969.

As of 2011, 10,300 people called Carina home, their average age being 34 years. Most were born in Australia, England and New Zealand, with South Africa and India being notable exceptions. Although English was primarily spoken at home, Spanish and Cantonese are also spoken as second languages.
