Bridgeman Downs (4035)
Located 13 km north of Brisbane, Bridgeman Downs (4035) named for its original settler in 1860, Henry Bridgeman, has been characterised by large acreage properties, recently in the late 1980s and 1990s it has been subdivided into residential estates with large modern homes on large blocks big enough for swimming pools and tennis courts. Although residents are young affluent professional families, there is also a retirement village, a major cemetery and several large Church complexes. Bridgeman Downs is well serviced by regular buses and about four major shopping centres in adjoining suburbs and several other smaller shopping villages.
In 2011 7500 people lived in Bridgeman Downs, their average age being 40 years with most being Anglo-Australian, with a minority from India, South Africa or Fiji. Italian, Cantonese or Hindi are spoken as languages second to English at home.
