The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.

The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.

 

Wall Tie

A Wall Tie is a metal wire or strap which ties masonry to a support frame to brace the external brick or block cladding to the timber frame for structural reinforcement. The support frame can be made from masonry, timber or steel. Brick veneer uses wall ties to tie bricks to the structural timber or steel frame. Wall ties are also used in double leaf masonry work to tie the leaves of masonry together to ensure the wall works together structurally.
