The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.

The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.

 

Tread

The Tread is the top or horizontal surface of a step i.e. the part of the stairway that is stepped on. The tread "depth" is measured from the outer edge of the step from edge of the nosing to the vertical "riser" between steps. The "width" is measured from one side to the other.
