Timber Pests encompass 4 types of organism or phenomena that negatively affect timber in service (the dead trees we use in building our homes).

These 4 are:

Termites

Fungal Decay

Borers

and a phenomena known as Chemical Delignification

The first three are important part of natures recycling and carbon capture and storage process, braking down dead trees and returning carbon and other minerals to the soil. reducing the build up of bush fire fuel, and increasing soil fertility.

We need these organisms and they are only pest when they effect out homes. The best way to do this is to make our home unattractive to them so they stay away

The forth is primarily the result of man made pollution although salt air in coastal areas may also contribute to this fairly uncommon problem.
