Library
The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.
The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.
Soffit
A soffit is the horizontal sheet cladding under the eave of a roof overhang. A soffit most often refers to the material forming a ceiling from the top of an exterior house wall to the outer edge of the roof, i.e., bridging the gap between a home's siding and the roofline, otherwise known as the eaves. Soffit exposure profile (from wall to fascia) on a building's exterior can vary from a few centimeters to 3 feet or more, depending on construction. It can be non-ventilated or ventilated for cooling the roof void.
