Library

The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.

The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.

 

Lap

The Head or End Lap - the portion of a tile covered by the tile above it. 

The Side Lap - the portion of a tile which interlocks with the tile beside it.

Lapping also applies to sheet metal roofing.

Laps should face away from direction of weather and greater lapping ensures better weatherproofing.
