"Thorough explanations...friendly, helpful"
Library
The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.
The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.
Exploratory Tunnelling
Exploratory Tunnelling activity is dependant on two key factors:
- Sand particle size
- Moisture in soil
The rate of progress of a termite foraging through the soil is related to the soil type/size and the moisture content. From studies the following tables show the effect over the distance covered.

The 250-355 micro range is quality top dressing soil," LIVING SOIL" (not washed sand). This is more important than using non-repellent chemicals and can be a great advantage with in-ground baiting systems.
