The ABIS library is a collection of useful reference material relating to buildings and their problems as well as timber pests such as termites.

The library is a combination of material written by ABIS as a result of our own research and practical experience together with useful information gleaned from other authoritative sources.

 

Chamferboard

Chamferboard is a form of weatherboarding which in turn is the cladding of a house consisting of long thin timber boards that overlap one another, horizontally on the outside of the wall. They usually have a tongued and grooved joint arranged to link the boards together. It is good practice to leave the lower part of a wall free of cladding to avoid dampness caused by air not circulating which could subsequently rot the weatherboarding.
